5 Star Reviews for MARS Swimming

If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Mars Swimming is simply outstanding. From the coaches to the staff to the overall environment, everything is handled with a level of excellence that’s hard to find. It’s clear that the entire team is passionate about what they do and genuinely cares about each swimmer’s growth and success.

The instruction is top-notch — structured, encouraging, and tailored to every level. You see real progress, not just in skill but in confidence. The energy is positive, the atmosphere is supportive, and the facility is always clean and well-run.

Whether you’re bringing your child, supporting a friend, or just watching the program in action, it’s easy to see why Mars has earned such a strong reputation. They go above and beyond, and it shows. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place that truly gets it right.

The MARS Swimmimg program is absolutely excellent. Special shoutout to Lana Johnson for being very in depth and thorough with her coaching and practice regiments. My child has begun to find more confidence in their swimming abilities and that brings me joy!

MARS is an excellent organization from the top down. Coach Diana (our son's coach) is wonderful. She is an excellent coach and has been so helpful with scheduling practice times and other things. Coach DJ is excellent as well if you are an adult looking for a Masters program. His workouts are always varied and he keeps it fun.

We love MARs for not only the excellent coaching for swimming, but because the coaches truly care about each individual kid. They are helping us parents raise responsible and kind humans. We have been a part of this organization for 2 years and are so thankful we joined.

When it comes to coaching and administration, this is the place to be. The coaching staff is top tier in their organization and making respectable individuals.

Our daughter has been on the team for four years and both are children learned to swim from MARS staff. When COVID hit they did close down and gave you the option to continue paying or not. We got most of our volunteer hours pre-COVID and were able to finish the rest once the pools reopened. They also reduced the number of hours you had to volunteer. Like any small business, they have hiccups, but the owners and team have encouraged and welcomed my children in a sport with very few black children in it. We recommended them to anyone who’s looking for a team. (They also managed to run successful meets without a COVID-19 outbreak).

Best place to be. coaches are dedicated. Well organized events. I’m happy my child is part of team. It’s not an annoying self righteous group like some places in DFW.

My daughter has had lessons with Mars since the start of the 2019-20 school year and has improved tremendously. We'd previously had lessons at both Emler and the Y and her skill level kind of had stagnated. With Mars she started to improve right away. I believe she'll be ready for the swim team soon!

Commonly Asked Questions

What can I expect at a tryout?

Smile and have fun. Our try-outs are simply a placement test. If a child has the ability to swim across the 25-yard pool, on top of the water, a Freestyle or crawl stroke, we have a place for them.

What should I bring?

You only need a swimsuit and a towel. Goggles are optional.

Will my child start competing right away?

Most new swimmers start in either our Race Ready, our pre-competitive group training 2 times a week for 30 minutes. They learn the competitive strokes, turns, and starts. More advanced swimmers may start in our first competitive group, Copper, training three days a week for 45 minutes. Once in Bronze, the swimmers are competing about 6-8 times per year locally.
