"Parkour is a training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training. Practitioners aim to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most efficient way possible. Parkour includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement, and other movements as deemed most suitable for the situation. Parkour's development from military training gives it some aspects of non-combative martial art.
Parkour is an activity that can be practiced alone or with others and is usually carried out in urban spaces, though it can be done anywhere. Parkour involves seeing one's environment in a new way, and imagining the potential for navigating it by movement around, across, through, over, and under its features." (Wikipedia)
Parkour is a method of physical training that develops one's ability to overcome obstacles (both physical and mental). It involves movement that will help if one is in a reach or escape an emergency. Underpinning this is a philosophy of altruism and useful strength, longevity, self-improvement, and self-understanding. (Parkourpedia)

A New Direction in our Tumbling Program:
Our new tumbling program is stronger, safer, and better in developing the whole athlete than it ever has been before.
Our certified, developmental approach promises to develop the most talent in the most tumblers. The traditional "Drill & KIll" approach of continual heavy repetition helped a few of the most talented athletes (about 25%) develop specific skills without providing the background necessary for continued advancement. Those who didn't injure themselves by throwing abilities for which they did not adequately prepare their bodies/muscles, developed excellent tumbling skills. However, without developmental training, the majority of tumblers were never able to display the skills they desired. Now, by following a developmental model, more athletes can ultimately develop more advanced skills while the most talented athletes can demonstrate those skills with less risk of injury.
